TBG Solutions is a UK-based engineering company specialising in BESPOKE test, measurement and control systems. For over 25 years we have worked with customers across defence, aerospace and advanced manufacturing to design and deliver bespoke automated test solutions.
As part of our continued growth, we are looking to appoint an Applications Engineer to support the commercial and engineering teams in developing technical solutions for customer requirements.
This role sits at the intersection of engineering and commercial delivery, supporting the creation of BESPOKE technically robust proposals and system architectures.

Experience Required
We are seeking an engineer who enjoys working in a solution-focused environment, combining technical understanding with practical commercial awareness.
You may currently work as an:
· Applications Engineer or Junior Applications Engineer.
· Technical Sales Engineer or Junior Technical Sales Engineer.
· Systems Engineer (Pre-Sales) or Junior Systems Engineer.
· Proposals / Bid Engineer or Junior Proposals / Bid Engineer.
· Test Engineer with customer-facing exposure or Junior Test Engineer.
Key skills and experience:
· Ability to interpret technical specifications and RFQs.
· Understanding of electrical and mechanical system architectures.
· Experience supporting technical proposals or estimates.
· Comfortable working with suppliers and internal engineering teams.
· Strong attention to detail and organisation.
Desirable experience:
· Exposure to PXI-based test systems. (NOT PLC)
· Experience interpreting drawings in SolidWorks or EPLAN.
· Estimating labour and materials for technical systems.
· Degree or equivalent qualification in engineering (desirable, not essential). OR EQUIVILANT EXPERIENCE.
Due to the nature of the projects, candidates must be eligible to obtain Security Check (SC) clearance.

You won’t be expected to be a salesperson. Instead, your role is to provide the technical credibility and engineering insight that underpins successful solutions.
Responsibilities
As an Applications Engineer, you will support the development of technical solutions and proposals in response to customer requirements and RFQs. You’ll work closely with sales, engineering and customers to translate technical requirements into practical system architectures, cost models and proposals.
Typical responsibilities will include:
· Reviewing customer RFQs and technical specifications.
· Developing concept architectures for BESPOKE automated test systems.
· Supporting technical proposal development.
· Producing cost estimates for materials, labour and system components.
· Liaising with suppliers and technology partners.
· Supporting the commercial team with technical input during customer discussions.
· Assisting with concept presentations and requirement clarification.
This is primarily an internal engineering role with commercial exposure, rather than a traditional sales position.
