As our newly appointed Mechanical Design Engineer you will take engineering requirements from customers and design bespoke mechanical solutions that can be manufactured within time and cost constraints. This will involve the use of both commercial off-the-shelf components as well as custom design interfaces.

 

The role will involve the creation of 3D models and drawing packs to allow the manufacturing team to bring to life your designs. This important role will provide an opportunity to design and engineer a wide range of bespoke products which will allow our customers to benefit from our high-quality engineered solutions. The role will also involve the creation of blue-sky concepts and innovative & creative solutions, to a broad range of engineering challenges, presentations and documentation of engineering activities, along with updates and revisions to existing designs ensuring accurate revision control. Designs that will integrate with electronic and electrical solutions. Requirements will range from a simple interface panel to a complex operating system.

Experience Required

  • ONC Mechanical Engineering (minimum).
  • Candidates must have a history of success in similar roles, be self-motivated and have a passion for engineering and delivering projects on time.
  • Experience in fixture, enclosure & sheet metal design.
  • Demonstrable experience in precision engineering & BS8888.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Geometric Tolerancing and practices.
  • Good knowledge of SolidWorks software package.
  • Experience in working within a Design environment is essential.
  • To have an awareness / understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Experience developing 3D/2D Drawings and models.
  • Experience designing Test Equipment, automation or control systems.
  • Experience creating and managing BOMs.
  • Experience providing support to production teams and suppliers.
  • Skilled using SolidWorks.
  • Experience working with a multi-discipline team.
  • Commutable distance to head office - (Barlborough).
  • Previous experience of working within one of the following – Aerospace, Defence, Oil & Gas, Automotive or similar industry – Desirable not essential.
  • Proven track record of designing bespoke test equipment – Desirable not essential.
  • Experience in fixture, enclosure & sheet metal design – Desirable not essential.
  • Experience designing Test Equipment, automation or control systems – Desirable not essential.
  • Electromechanical experience – Desirable not essential.
  • At least 5 years Solidworks Experience – Desirable not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Generate new concepts and present them to various audiences.
  • Create engineering data to support designs ensuring optimum cost/manufacturability.
  • 3D modelling and 2D detailing to a high standard using Solidworks.
  • BOM generation and updates to existing products and issue level control.
  • Contribute to meetings both on and off site for project support.
  • Support production build and installation teams as required.
  • You may be required to perform any other duties and to work in any other areas as requested by the Company, if necessary, which may include other offices and those of clients.
