As our newly appointed Cell Leader – Harnessing, you will report directly to the Production Manager and will take responsibility for leading and supervising our newly created second Harness Assembly Cell.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you will oversee the day-to-day operation of the cell while directly contributing to the production and testing of high-quality harness assemblies and related components. Working from engineering drawings, works orders and service/warranty requests, you will coordinate the team to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.
You will work closely with engineering, production management and wider teams to resolve technical issues, identify opportunities for continuous improvement and ensure priorities are effectively managed. The role will involve working on a range of bespoke products and test equipment, using both commercial off-the-shelf components and supplier-manufactured parts.

Experience Required
Who we’re looking for?- Candidates must have proven experience working within a production, manufacturing or engineering environment, with previous supervisory or team leadership experience.
- A minimum of 2 years' supervisory experience within a production environment.
- A minimum of 12 months' experience assembling complex harnesses to IPC-620 standards.
- A strong practical background in complex electrical operations, including precise wiring and soldering.
- A good understanding of manufacturing processes, quality requirements and inspection techniques.
- Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to guide and support a dedicated production team.
- The ability to read and work accurately from engineering drawings and identify technical or manufacturing issues.
- Practical analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate issues and implement effective solutions.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities, organise workflow and respond effectively to changing production requirements.
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement, with the confidence to identify and communicate opportunities for improvement.
- Good basic IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Outlook and general shop-floor systems.
- Secondary education with strong literacy and numeracy skills.
- IPC-620 and J-STD-001 certification or training would be desirable.
- Experience within the aerospace and defence industry would be advantageous.
- Experience of electrical testing, test and automation, bespoke test equipment or PCB assembly would be desirable.
- Candidates must possess all requirements for successfully meeting formal Security Check (SC) criteria.

Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the day-to-day operation of the Harness Assembly Cell, allocating tasks and managing workflow to ensure production targets and quality standards are achieved.
- Lead and directly contribute to the assembly and wiring of complex cable harnesses, one-off electrical cabinets, control panels and breakout boxes.
- Ensure manufacturing processes and quality controls are consistently followed across the cell, including compliance with IPC-620 standards.
- Work from engineering drawings and works orders, identifying any errors, discrepancies or opportunities for improvement and providing feedback to the relevant teams.
- Perform and oversee inspection and testing of completed harnesses, assemblies and associated equipment.
- Provide technical guidance and practical support to members of the team, helping to resolve manufacturing and assembly issues.
- Liaise with engineering, production management and wider teams to resolve technical issues and balance changing priorities.
- Maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment across the cell.
- Ensure equipment, tooling and resources are appropriately managed and calibration requirements are maintained.
- Support continuous improvement activities to improve quality, efficiency and overall cell performance.
- Adapt to the changing needs of the business, undertaking additional duties or supporting other operational areas where required.
