What is a Generic Test System?
A generic test system platform covering all hardware and software is the solution.
- ATE base station – This is where all of the ATE is contained as well as any specialist loads/connection devices. Here scalability is key i.e. can extra instruments be added?; do we have enough real estate to expand? UUT connectivity may come via a cassette system or a larger interface test adapter (ITA)
- Automated Test Software – A Dynamic test interface that allows for testing of multiple UUT variants. This also allows us to standardise on drivers and reporting across all UUT’s. For TBG, Teststand and LabVIEW are our go-to software Development environments.
- UUT (Unit Under Test) Interface – Typically every UUT will have a specific interface. As described above, this may be a custom cassette style interface with custom pin mapping and mechanical locking mechanism, or it may be a larger interface test adaptor whereby a separate system is connected to the main test system.
